UnIPSS team participates in the 19th Cochrane Colloquium, Madrid 2011

◊The 19th Cochrane Colloquium took place in the city of Madrid, from October the 19th to the 22nd. This meeting was attended by most members of the Health Policy and Systems Research Unit from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, led by its director Dr. Tomas Pantoja.

This time the topics to address were framed on the use of scientific evidence for healthcare quality and patient safety. Noteworthy is the presentation by Dr. Pantoja at the plenary session regarding the use of evidence to improve health systems, in which he referred to the value of Cochrane Reviews in developing health systems guidance. In addition, UnIPSS members, Dr. Pantoja and Dr. Rada, and Dr. Neumann from the Unit for Evidence-Based Medicine, had an outstanding participation in the presentation of posters, with a total of 8 works together.

This instance not only served for the presentation of scientific papers, but also allowed the generation of links with researchers and professionals from several countries to design an agenda for collaborative research and promotion of projects for the development of the use of evidence in decision-making processes of different health systems, with special emphasis on low and middle income countries.
